The Healthlink360 Team

Our team at Carberry currently comprises 5 doctors, a clinical psychologist, 2 counsellors, 2 nurses and 3 administration staff. We are based at the Edinburgh International Health Centre on the outskirts of Edinburgh.

Our Northern Ireland team comprises of 4 counsellors and 4 doctors as well as a network of medical consultants we can call on for specialist advice.

The Medical Team

  • Dr Michael E Jones

    MB, ChB, FRCP (Edin, Glasg, Lond), FFFTM RCPS (Glasg), Dip PC

    Mike is Hon. Consultant Physician at HealthLink360.  He was a Medical Specialist at Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre, a teaching hospital in Tanzania from 1976-1982.  Mike and his wife, Elizabeth, founded Care for Mission in 1983 after they had returned to the UK and this merged with Medeserve in 2007 to become HealthLink360.  After 10 years of counselling training he was awarded a Nottingham University Diploma in Pastoral Counselling in 1993.  He was a Consultant in Infectious Diseases at the Regional Infectious Diseases Unit, Western General Hospital, Edinburgh, retiring in 2014 and was Dean of the Faculty of Travel Medicine at RCPS Glasgow 2012-15.  He made regular visits to Zambia from 2003 to 2009 with Lothian-Zambia HIV/AIDS Partnership.  He has advised the GP Newspaper Pulse on immunisations and anti-malarial prophylaxis for travellers since 1994.  He was chair of the Psychological Health of Travellers Interest Group for the International Society for Travel Medicine 2014-16 and was an invited lecturer at their bi-annual conferences from 2007 to 2015.  He has sat on the International Health Advisory Committee for SIM International since 2002.  He is Associate Editor of the journal Travel Medicine and Infectious Disease.

  • Dr Ewan Clark


    Ewan is a general practitioner at the Edinburgh University Health Centre.  He has been working at HealthLink360 since 2013.  In recent years he has undertaken additional training in travel medicine.

  • Dr Keith Russell


    Keith has worked fro over 25 years as a GP in the Lothian area, and has 15 years experience as a GP trainer and medical student tutor.  From 2000-2004 he served with the Church of Scotland as a medical director of Refuge Egypt – an NGO in Cairo providing medical care for approximately 18,000 urban refugees.  He has also worked in Northern China a the China Medical University.  Keith works voluntarily as an RCGP mentor and is a medical examiner for Freedom from Torture (Glasgow).  He is an associate with the GMC and assists with the assessment of overseas medical graduates.

  • Dr Carolyn Winney


    Carolyn is a general practitioner and at present mainly works for Lothian Unscheduled Care Service. She has been working at Healthlink360 since 2016.


  • Dr Martin Winney


    Martin is a general practitioner partner at the Wood Medical Practice, Broxburn. He has 7 years’ experience as a GP trainer. He has been working at Healthlink360 since 2016.


  • Dr Ernest K Hunter

    MB, BCh, BAO, FRCP(Glas), FRCP(Lond)

    Ernie served as a Consultant Physician (General Internal Medicine) at Mid Ulster Hospital from 1985-2011.  He was Consultant Physician at Causeway Hospital from 2011-2012.  He retired from full time practice in 2012 and since then has been working part-time as Locum Consultant Physician in General and Rehabilitation Medicine at Mid Ulster Hospital.  His special interests are cardiology, diabetes and rehabilitation medicine.

  • Dr (Elizabeth) Ruth Ingram

    MB, BCh, BAO, MRCGP, MICGP, DCH, DRCOG, DipTher, Dip Pall Med, DFSRH

    Ruth worked as a general practitioner and trainer at Garden Street Surgery, Magherafelt until 2012.  Following official retirement, she continues to do regular locum sessions at the practice where her main interests are palliative medicine and women’s health.

  • Dr Graeme Crawford

    MB, BCh, BAO, DCH, DRCOG, Dip Pall Med, MRCGP

    Graeme has worked as a GP Partner in Bangor, Northern Ireland since 1989.  His particular interest is in palliative care.  He joined HealthLink360 in October 2011, helping to provide medical services to clients from Northern Ireland.  Graeme finds it a privilege getting to know and support those serving abroad.  he is married with three daughters.

Psychological Services Team

  • Chris Dunkerley

    BA (Hons), PGCE, Dip Psych, DClinPsy

    Chris came to HealthLink360 in June 2014.  He retrained as a clinical psychologist after 13 years as a journalist.  He worked in an older persons’ community mental health team in the North East of England before moving back to Scotland.  Chris is now Head of Psychological Services at HealthLink360.  He has short-term missions experience in Nigeria and Uganda.

  • Caroline Hunter

    RMN; MA SocAnt, Cert.Counselling

    Caroline began working for HealthLink360 in June 2009.  She began working in Pakistan with marginalised women around health issues.  After returning to the UK, she worked for Sure Start, running programmes for parents of under threes.  She also spent a year working for Edinburgh Women’s Rape Crisis and Sexual Abuse Centre, developing training packs and counselling women.  In 2004, Caroline studied her degree in social anthropology.  She is trained in person-centred work and is also able to work from a cognitive behavioural base.  Caroline has particular interests in psychological trauma, bereavement and eating disorders, and she is trained in psychometric testing.

  • Cynthia Jeffries

    BVSc, MRCVS, Certificate in Pastoral Care, Dip Counselling, COSCA Accredited

    Cynthia qualified as a veterinary surgeon and worked in general practice in England before going overseas.  She then spent thirty years out of the UK in Africa, France and the USA, raising four children in different cultures.  After many years of involvement in pastoral care in churches, she retrained as a counsellor, coinciding with her return to Scotland.  This gives her the professional skill which, alongside her cross-cultural experience, enables her to understand and support those who use HealthLink360.

  • Joy Gowdy

    BA Cert. Ed Ad DipC. Accredited Counsellor with ACC

    Joy, originally from Northern Ireland, joined Healthlink 360 in August 2005. She worked as a teacher with PCI/UMN in Nepal for over 10years before retraining and gaining her Diploma in Counselling in 2004. Joy co-chairs a member care interest group in Northern Ireland and has  particular interest in critical incident/trauma debrief.  She has strong support from Hamilton Road Presbyterian Church in Bangor and took a leading role in the development of HealthLink360 services in Northern Ireland.  She retired from full-time work in 2016 and now works for HealthLink360 on a sessional basis.

  • Ruth Hamilton

    BA Hons, PGCE, CELTA, Adv Cert Pastoral Care & Counselling, Dip Counselling, BACP Accredited

    Ruth enjoyed a varied teaching career which included either years with Wycliffe Bible Translators teaching in an international school in Cote d’Ivoire.  Returning to Belfast, she started counselling training in 2002.

    Ruth continues to have an interest in cross-cultural work and the impact of transition.  She also enjoys working with families and young people and has been working as a counsellor in primary and post-primary schools in Northern Ireland since 2009.  She has pursued advanced training around her interest on the impact of stress and trauma on the body, completing Critical Incident Stress Management training in 2006 and Level 2 Somatic Experiencing in 2014.  She has used this training in responding to 10 critical incidents in schools.  Ruth and her husband plan to retire as members of Wycliffe Bible Translators in December 2016 and she looks forward to continuing to be active in counselling.

  • Moira Anketell

    B Ed, Dip SpLD, Adv Dip Counselling, Cert Couple Counselling, BACP Accredited

    Moira’s interest in counselling began some 20 years ago when working with teenagers in a drop-in centre, which led in turn to the setting up and running of a crisis pregnancy centre under the umbrella of CARE (Christian Action, Research and Education).  She attended Queen’s University, Belfast, gaining an Advanced Diploma in Person Centred Counselling in 2007, and has more recently qualified with a Certificate in Couple Counselling from PCI in Dublin.


    Moira is also a part-time teacher, working with students with special educational needs, particularly those with dyslexia.

Nursing Services

  • Judy Hughes

    BN(Glas), RGN, Dip HV, General Manager/Travel Nurse Specialist

    Judy joined the Healthlink360 team in August 2008, having worked in general practice since 1991. Prior to that she spent a year travelling around the world and nursing in The Northern Territories in Australia. As a practice nurse she has developed special expertise in travel health, respiratory care and heart disease management.  She enjoyed the challenge of extending her travel health role when she ran the travel clinic at Healthlink360. In 2010 she completed the Foundation Course in Travel Medicine (Glasgow). Since August 2011 she has taken on the role of General Manager of Healthlink360 co-ordinating the different teams and leading the Management Team in strategic thinking and service development.

  • Lillian Miller


    Lillian  joined HealthLink360 in 2012 and she is responsible for the day-to-day running of the travel clinic.

    After qualifying as a nurse, Lillian  worked as a theatre nurse in the RHSC, Edinburgh and the  RACH, Aberdeen.

    Following a short break in service, Lillian  worked for 20+ years  as a Community Health Nurse, mainly in schools. Administering vaccinations was part of that role, a skill which she utilises in her  present role as  a Travel Health Nurse.

The Administration Team

  • Jane Wright

    Accounts Officer & Administration Coordinator

    Jane has worked as a book-keeper for several other firms in Edinburgh and lives in Dalkeith with her husband and two daughters. She joined the staff team in September 2004.

  • Elaine Tulloch

    Travel Clinic Receptionist

    Elaine joined HealthLink360 in 2014 and keeps our Travel Clinic running smoothly.  She worked for many years for the Royal Bank of Scotland and is a great asset to us at HealthLink.

  • Sallie Black

    Sallie arranges all our medical and psychological service appointments.  She joined us in 2013 after a long teaching career and we really appreciate her common sense approach, particularly when it comes to the tricky issue of arranging multiple appointments for large families.

  • Mary McNeely

    Development Manger

    Mary is HealthLink360’s Development Manager in Northern Ireland.  Originally from Northern Ireland, she spent over 30 years living and working in England.  For nine years she worked in project management for the social housing and charity sector in London.  She then lived in South Africa for two years, working for a small church plant near Durban.  Returning to the UK, Mary moved to the North East of England and spent nine years as a senior administrator for a large Anglican church in Newcastle upon Tyne.  Her role there involved staff, volunteer and HR management, strategic planning and event co-ordination. She has recently returned to live and work in Northern Ireland.
