Global Starter – Full assessment of fitness for work on location
At HealthLink360 we understand that the success of overseas work depends not only on your own good health and that of your family but on your resilience and ability to adapt and thrive in your chosen culture with its unique combination of excitement and pressure; rewards and challenges.
These challenges may include:

- Inadequate health-care systems
We want you to go overseas feeling confident that you have prepared well to avoid any health problems – physical, spiritual and emotional. With this in mind we have developed our Global Starter package of care . It offers the best value, embracing our ethos of ‘whole person care’ by providing thorough medical and psychological assessment as you consider a move to working overseas. Components may, also be carried out separately.
Global Starter serves the needs of:
- Sponsoring Agencies and churches who wish to assess, enhance and maintain their overseas partner’s resilience in the field
- Individuals and families who wish to be fully prepared for life in their chosen overseas placement
Global Starter :
- Provides full medical and psychological assessment for health and wellbeing
- Identifies and deals with any potential medical problems, preventing crises later on
- Gives you health advice, vaccinations and medications appropriate to where you will be
- Helps you learn how best to manage medical issues while overseas
- Increases self awareness, understanding of your strengths and weaknesses and how your new situation may affect you
- Promotes understanding for your sending agency, yourself and your family on issues of health and wellbeing
- Helps develop resilience and coping strategies for the stresses of a new environment
Pre-assignment Medical Assessment is tailored to the individual and includes:
- Health screening for asymptomatic conditions ( eg Cardiovascular risk assessment, testicular/breast exam)
- Detection and assessment of any current health problems (mental and physical)
- Arrangement for further specialist assessment /follow-up if needed
- Advice on managing any medical conditions and general health abroad
- Country specific advice on particular health risks including vaccinations, anti-malarials etc.
- core blood tests. Separate charge made for blood grouping
Additionally offered if required
- ECG ( if over 45)
- Chest XRay
Psychological Assessment includes:
- A detailed, structured interview
- Psychometric questionnaires measuring personality traits and general intelligence
- Supportive questionnaires measuring current satisfaction and frustration
- A feedback session based on outcomes of questionnaires
- A written report sent to you and which may be shared with your agency
The report includes a section on recommendations for continued wellbeing overseas. It allows insight into how you function on a day to day basis and includes practical suggestions on the areas that need to be strengthened in order to function well in an overseas setting
